09:00 - 09:30

Breakfast catch-up

Our day starts with our regular breakfast catch-up between students and staff. Over breakfast, we use this time to discuss anything that could have happened overnight or at the weekend and anything that individual students want to talk about. We often use what is discussed in our breakfast catch-up to inform the theme of the workshop in the afternoon.

09:30 - 10:30

Lesson 1

The morning sessions are split between the core subjects: Maths and English. Students will usually complete work that has been sent from the home school.

10:30 - 11:30

Lesson 2

11:30 - 11:45

Break

11:45 - 12:45

Lesson 3

Key Stage 4 students will use this period to complete GCSE work in a smaller classroom environment and with the support of our staff members. Key Stage 3 students will take part in an arts-focussed class: drama, art or music. This session is a flexible time and dependant entirely upon the needs of the students at the centre at the time.

Once a week, we encourage our students to cook during lesson 3. The food prepared will then be shared amongst all the students at the centre. So far, we have made beef in black bean, a chicken curry, jerk chicken and nachos!

12:45 - 13:15

Lunch

13:15 - 14:15

Workshop

Our afternoon session focuses on individual student projects. They usually are over a number of days or weeks and are interactive, building students’ confidence, social and emotional mental health and wellbeing.

We also utilise this time for external visits such as the army, police or fire brigade.

See some of our workshop topics here.

14:15 - 14:30

Evaluations and tidy-up

Students are encouraged to keep their centre clean and tidy before going home for the day.
